Assalamualaikum readers. Yeah, I'm home again. After spending 3 days in Lendu and not being interested at all to join the Ambang Merdeka event tomorrow. Not even a slightest bit of regret that I feel when I skipped the event. Sorry if I'm posting, AGAIN, in English. I can't resist it. It's one of the way to polish my writing skill. (Cause I know I'm not that good in English so please mind my mistakes)
The first time that I received the offer to continue my study in TESL, some people responded, "TESL students are annoying and boasting and kinda show off and whatever". And that time I was like, "Whaaa? I don't even meet the people yet". That time, I still haven't know how my life and environment are going to be. So I'd rather choose to go with the flow. And some people said that TESL students are too easy-going, outgoing and worst of all, too social. So I dared myself to join the course and became part of the "SOCIAL" community. So people, yeah, I'm a SOCIAL person.
Call us social, call ME social and I'm gonna prove you wrong. Yes, I admit, we sing the whole Adele's songs, As Long as You Love Me (and of course the whole Justin Bieber's songs), Heal the World and many more during our Oral Presentation. We make stories and some might write about 'grown-up people' love, marriage, puppy love, honeymoon and so on. We talk about love in front of our lecturers. Some might playing around with the boys/girls in our class. But not all of us. NOT ALL OF US, I repeat. Alhamdulillah Shams is still in my heart. I still know how to keep my distance from boys. I still know it. Some TESL students even wear 'tudung labuh' to class, everyday since the 2nd of June. And as far as I can see here, the closer I get to the students, the more I'm grateful that I'm a TESL student because we are still being observed my our lecturers, every time. Guess what? Our lecturers separate the boys and the girls in the classes, how to behave, how to mind our language and they even tell us to behave like a Muslim here. We can only wear baju kurung to classes. So which part of social life we are confronted with right now?
A few might have been, but that is just a few. And there are lots of students out there who don't even care about the do's and don't's in our religion. So is it the course to be blamed, or the students themselves? It doesn't depend on your course. It depends on you yourself. If you know how to behave, feel free to join any course that you want, as long as you know the rules in Islam. It's your faith, not your course. So do you mind if I tell you, that not all TESL students are social. And I'm happy to say that even though our 'ukhuwah' is not as strong as the 'ukhuwah' in SHAMS, at least, they are one of the reasons why I am still standing strong at Lendu. They 'awwed' me when I talked about sweet things. They laugh at my clumsiness while presenting. They respond to every question that I ask. They know how to pass things without making contact with my skin. They know how to respect Islamic school student. They know how to respect each other. That amazed me. So yes, I love my course and most of all, my classmates.
I don't know why, every time we snap pictures, I will always be caught in the same dress. Kenapa bukan masa pakai baju2 lain yang berjuta-juta lagi? Kenapa mesti kebetulan baju sama? This is creepy.
But all I can say, no place is as good and heart-warming as Shams is.
I miss Shams. A true confession from an ex-student.
